Laurent Peybernes
Born in 1985, passionate about graffiti, Laurent painted since 1997 in the outskirts of Montpellier(south France). Graffiti, graphic designer and, more recently, visual artist, he loves hybrid projects and collaborations between different practices such as video-mapping or augmented reality. Geometry and light are omnipresent in his canvases painted with aerosol and his structures in volumes using materials (wood, cardboard feather, wool) as a tribute to nature and the stars, their mystical beauties. He spontaneously paints harmonious structures, cristals, planets in which he concentrates his best intentions. His compositions sometimes go beyond the frame as if to get out of the mold “conform”, normality, and recurring patterns that limit it, as the speech almost absent on his work so that the mind denatures the spontaneous beauty of it.
His collaborations in augmented reality were presented during the “Digital Week Paris 2015″ or in Bangkok at «Duke Contemporary Art Space » in june 2018. In 2015 during the opening of an exhibition he presented a video-mapping on one of his structure, also participated in the lights festival of Montpellier « Coeur de Ville en lumières 2016″ and still regularly performs Graffiti or Team buildings on different type of events.« Laurent is looking for total art. Its pictorial, graphic and numerical contraction power no longer belongs to a fixed support. His dynamic vision stands in space as a volume. His compositions in jerky triangles carry the idea of Cubism into an incredible hybridization open to sensation, lyricism and spatialization where the Cubist doctrine set restrictive limits. By projecting colors or lights on programmed surfaces, Laurent realizes in a certain way what Malevitch envisaged in his Architectones in 1920. ”
